Our TeamPhil Kern, Board President Phil joins The Shop board with over 25 years experience in technical sales and marketing for Intergraph, Z/I Imaging, and Microdrones. Besides his interest in technology he’s been an avid woodworker all his life and enjoys making everything from garden obelisks to bluebird houses. Phil was able to utilize his past business experience to get The Shop up and running. He has two daughters who among their many other talents also share his passion for working with wood. Frank Davies, Board Vice President Frank has 35 years of experience in the printing industry, including 25 years of business ownership. Best known as coach Davies in the Huntsville community, Frank has coached and mentored from youth to young adults at the colligate level in Alabama and Mississippi. He coached at Grissom and Huntsville high school, taking Grissom to two state championships. He also played and coached at UAH , coached at Alabama A&M, Mississippi Valley and Oakwood University. Coach Davies took Alabama A&M to two conference championships and NCAA D1 playoffs. Frank enjoys mentoring young people and helping them to develop their skills and passions. With Franks years of experience in screenprinting and business ownership, coaching and mentoring he is a great asset to the goals of our shop. Jonathan Arcocha, Board Treasurer Jonathan has worked in the automotive industry for almost 20 years, specializing in engineering and systems development. From software, to cars, to carpentry, Jonathan enjoys building things, and is excited to help build a strong maker community with The Shop. As an army veteran and The Shop's Treasurer, Jonathan is determined to help The Shop grow through the values of hard work, integrity, and transparency. Lee Altschuler, Board Secretary and CIO Lee has over 38 years in the technology sector. Through out his career he has helped both large and small companies design and execute their digital strategies and online presence. Lee has specialized in delivering E-commerce, Content Management and Customer Support solutions in the Unites States and in South America. Lee joins The Shop with the goals of enabling members to self service their accounts in a straight forward manner. John Buckman, Board Member and Shop Foreman John has worked with wood in one manner or the other since his early teens. Retired from Telecommunications, John started a small home repair and remodeling business. Now at The Shop, John will offer help to anyone that needs it. Patrick Nash, Board Member Patrick joins The Shop board as an entrepreneur who has created and run several successful businesses. He operated a home inspection company for 32 years, performing more than 8,000 inspections. Prior to that, he was a general contractor, and has a vast knowledge and practical experience in carpentry, building techniques and building systems. Patrick, a commercial pilot, is currently developing new products for the general aviation industry, and still maintains his entrepreneurial spirit. Eric Pitkus, Board Member Eric has 36 years of aviation experience with the US Airforce, US Army, and Government Contracting. He served 27 and a half years in the military culminating as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major of the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade in Hawaii. Since 2016 he has served as a Government Contractor working Foreign Military Sales. Even though he has been working with wood since he was 14, it was while he was in Hawaii that he really started exploring lathes and larger wood projects. He joins The Shop to assist and mentor where he can. |
