Intro Woodworking: Build a Bat House
Family Friendly
Just in time for Halloween, this family friendly activity will introduce you to woodworking and conservation and maybe even reduce the mosquito population around your home with this engaging workshop! All parts will be ready to assemble, this will be a mostly "bladeless" class, so its ideal for adults and children with their parent(s). Price is per bat house, not per person. Ages 12+.
Guided by a skilled instructor, you'll explore woodworking techniques like measuring, assembling, gluing, nailing, and finishing. Using quality materials and step-by-step instruction, you'll construct a bat box designed to meet the habitat needs of local bat species. As a bonus, you'll get to use our laser cutter to cut out the decorative bats for your bat house!
No previous woodworking experience is needed; just bring your enthusiasm to learn and build. All tools and materials will be provided, and you'll leave with your own handmade, single chamber, bat box that should last for years. It'll be ready to paint, stain or leave in natural cedar, ready to be installed in your yard or community space.
Note: Please cover up, no open toed footwear.
